Calendar

The link above takes you to Google Calendar's public, live view of CRWE's currently scheduled rehearsals, concerts, board meetings, and other events.

If you wish to subscribe to this calendar through some mechanism other than Google itself, you may do so by using this ICS feed. Depending on the software that you use, you'll need to create a "Subscribed Calendar" or "Internet Calendar" if you want the changes to be reflected in your own devices as new events are scheduled. Don't download the link unless you're deliberately choosing to obtain a snapshot, and then, be aware that the data may be out of date as soon as you import it.

File Server

This is a private suite of cloud software, similar to what you will find in Google's Drive offering. Log in using the email address that you receive mailing list messages over, using a random password to reveal the "Wrong password. Reset it?" button if this is your first time logging in. Once logged in, use the menu in the upper left corner to switch to the Files view if necessary.

Sheet music can be found under the Files view by drilling down into the "crwe >> music" folder, and from there into a folder specific to each concert. Typically, each piece is further divided into instrument families, although the division differs from piece to piece depending on the instrumentation in question. You should be able to find whatever score is available in the root folder for each piece, which may help save note-checking time during rehearsals.

Archival concert recordings can be found under that same Files view by drilling down into the "crwe >> concert_recordings" folder, and from there into a folder specific to each concert. Often, there will be separate per-concert folders for lossless (.wav) and compressed (.mp3) files. The compressed files can be used by the player of your choice, and should have complete metadata, including track numbers, titles, composer, etc. We provide the lossless files so that you can transcode the reocrdings to other formats besides MP3.

Other administrative documents are available at various hopefully self-evident locations. You're welcome to investigate any or all of them - this is your ensemble!

Mailing Lists

You should have been added to the appropriate mailing list(s) when you joined the ensemble. Follow this link to change your mailing list preferences if the defaults don't work for you; the most likely case is that the list sees too much traffic, so you'd like to change to "digest" mode, whereby you receive all of the day's traffic in a single message rather than as they are sent. Use your subscribed email address to log in, using the "Forgot Password" link if it's your first time visiting, then follow the given instructions.

Hosted Email

If you have a crwe.org email address, it will either be an alias or a hosted account.

Aliases

An alias is just another name for your external, personal email address. Mail sent to a crwe.org alias will be automatically forwarded to the external address of your choice. Aliases can forward to multiple email addresses. An alias cannot be used to send outgoing mail, and if you attempt to configure your mail client to behave as though it is sending from such an address, any messages that you send will likely be rejected by your intended recipients.

Contact the postmaster (postmaster at crwe dot org) to make alias changes.

Hosted Accounts

This is a typical mail account. Typically, you log into one server to receive incoming messages, and another to send outgoing messages. We use the same server for both directions.

Hosted accounts are initially created with random passwords that the postmaster distrbutes securely. Once you can log into your account, you are free to change your password using the link below.

There are two mechanisms for interacting with hosted accounts: webmail, and client software.

Webmail

This is a web interface for reading, sending, and managing saved email.

Client Software

This refers to software that you run on your local computer or mobile device: Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Gnome Evolution, Apple Mail, etc. Many of these clients will automatically detect the settings necessary to interact with the incoming and outgoing servers once you give them your email address, and then prompt you for your password. If yours requires any manual configuration, use the following settings (unless otherwise specified, they apply to both incoming and outgoing mail):
